(More customer reviews)I'm not sure what the other reviewers are used to, but these are gourmet cupcakes at their best. We've made them 3 times and each time our guests have raved about them.
The cake has just a hint of orange (and even less lemon) which is contributed by the inclusion of both orange and lemon zest in the ingredients, which is the perfect mate to the rich, creamy milk chocolate frosting (one of the best I've ever tasted).
These aren't your typical supermarket "bake shop" cupcakes that most people are used to. These are delicate in flavor, but very, very rich and satisfying. They are also quite fattening with 3 sticks of unsalted butter required to make the recipe.
These aren't everyday snacks, but then again, they aren't meant to be.
If you want a special treat for your family or friends, try these. Unless you you have an aversion to the combination of a hint of orange with your milk chocolate, you're going to be completely delighted.
